Reusable blocks used this way make good templates.

My reusable block above is a black background with white text and drop caps enabled. If I wanted to use that type of formatting on multiple pages of my site, but with different content, I can. Create the reusable block and save it. Insert it into any page where I want that design element and “disconnect” it using the Convert to regular blocks button. I can then edit it.

The other menu item I want to look at briefly is the Group option. This creates a group containing your chosen block. You can then add more blocks to that group, which then can be added as a re-useable block if you want.

In the screenshot below, I have the group selected, and you can see the bounding box around several elements in the group.
